What is a Run Number?

Some of our routes have more than one bus servicing them at one time, so the run number allows you to distinguish between the different buses that are operating on the same route. The first number in the run number represents the route number and the second number (after the dash) represents the number of buses on the route. For example, route 10 during the Fall/Winter schedule has up to seven buses operating on it at the same time so you will see a 10-1, 10-2, 10-3, 10-4, 10-5, 10-6 and 10-7. These are pronounced, ten dash one, ten dash two, ten dash three and so on.

Knowing your run number allows you to check TimeTrack, our AVL system, and determine the location and schedule status of your bus.

What is a checkpoint?
A checkpoint is simply a bus stop along a route that is used to keep the bus on schedule. Checkpoints are usually spaced about 10 minutes apart and our Drivers use them for departure times along the route. Depending on traffic conditions, some routes may run a couple of minutes ahead of schedule between two checkpoints so when a Driver arrives at a checkpoint a little bit early, he or she will wait until the scheduled departure time for that checkpoint before continuing along the route. Checkpoint times are shown on our public schedules.



What is a STOP ID?
Each of our bus stops is labelled with a unique, 4-digit stop ID. Knowing this number allows you to easily find departure times for your route, either through our website, mobile app or through SMS messaging (text alerts).
